And… it all starts with taking a complete application!
Whether you are new in the business or a busy “seasoned” loan officer, it sometimes happens that we don’t have the time to take a full application—especially when you have 20 phone calls to return and more clients scheduled for the day.
Okay, that has happened to all of us, BUT your clients see you as an expert, and the last think you want to happen is to have to call them and say:
“Sorry I forgot to get your birth date” or
“I forgot to get your business phone number” or
“I forgot to get the name of your Realtor” or
“I forgot to ask if your taxes and insurance are included in your current monthly mortgage payment.”
You get the picture. I guarantee this won’t impress your clients.
By taking the time during your first meeting with your clients, you’ll make everyone happier and you’ll look like the professional you are. You will also make your processor happy, and don’t forget the underwriter. They can get crabby and suspect when they see a sloppy 1003.
Taking the time to complete the application will make your job a whole lot easier, and you’ll carry this attention to detail into all you do and, after all, “We are what we repeatedly do.” (Aristotle)
