Christopher Cruise trains loan originators nationwide through his company, Innovations Mortgage Training Services, as well as the two top national mortgage training facilities. Chris has been a residential mortgage loan originator since 1988 and formerly served as the Senior National Corporate Trainer and Curriculum Developer for one of the nation’s largest mortgage training companies.

Chris began his mortgage origination career in Maine, moved to North Carolina, and now lives near Washington, DC. He has trained Loan Officers for the nation’s largest lenders, including Ameriquest, Countrywide/Full Spectrum, DiTech, GMAC, LendingTree, New Century, and PHH. He has taught new and veteran originators how to pass exams in states where licensing is required.

Chris teaches loan originators the fundamental concepts necessary for a thorough understanding of the home mortgage process. The training includes mortgage math, loan program comparisons, FHA/VA and conventional loans, qualifying income and assets, credit and credit scoring, taking a complete application, and marketing.

Chris also trains state mortgage examiners for the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators and has trained housing counselors at training institutes around the country for the Neighborhood Reinvestment Coalition/Neighborworks. While living in North Carolina, he owned a mortgage brokerage company and taught housing counselors. He also created and taught an 8-week home-buying course at community colleges in Greensboro and Winston-Salem for eight years.

Along with being one of the country’s most credentialed and experienced Loan Officers, he is one of the most experienced home-buyer educators and loan originator trainers in the U.S. He writes frequently for industry publications and speaks at events and seminars. He has studied, taught, and written about credit scoring for more than a decade. Chris has been quoted in Forbes Magazine, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, and has written extensively for trade publications including Origination News, National Mortgage Broker, The Mortgage Press, and Internet Originator. He also contributes to www.BankRate.com. Chris has written manuals for loan originators on the subjects of Appraisals and Surveys, Credit Scoring/Credit Reports/Credit Repair, Reverse Mortgages, and The History of Mortgages. He is a longtime member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers.
